Fall is in the Aire….

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

We are all fortunate to live in a place like San Diego that has such great year round weather.  If you like getting outside there is hardly a better place to be.  As much as we love the outdoors at Aire, we know you get the most bang for your buck in doors sometimes.  Last weekend one of our athletes that is prepping for Ironman Arizona spent 5 hours (!!!) riding 108 miles on the Saris Power Tap Cycle.  That’s 5 hours of uninterrupted work.   No stop lights, no coasting, and best of all no road raging traffic.  Not everyone can/wants/needs to do something like that but the point is sometimes thinking about efficiency is important when we all have so little time to spare.  At Aire Urban we have downtown San Diego’s best indoor cycling center with Power Tap bikes, multi rider Computrainer systems, and a 52 inch plasma screen to watch some racing while you ride.

Hopefully some of you caught the boys of Aire’s own Engine Room Fitness on Fox 5 News last week for Fitness Friday.  They had the indoor water rowers set up for a great segment on the indo row group rowing program.  If it is your off season and you are looking for some fantastic cross training in or near downtown San Diego you have to check this out.

Our same Ironman athlete prepping for the Arizona race on November 22nd has been spending some time with Jen in the Pilates room at Aire Urban.  It’s great to go long and have speed, but if your core is not there you are bound to break down over time.  Aire Urban has downtown San Diego’s best private and semi private pilates studio and an instructor/coach in Jen that will get you the workout that you need.

Keep your eyes out for us on Facebook and Twitter as there are likely to be some holiday festivities and special events in the works soon!

Good Stuff @ Aire Urban

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Well we are off and running for the “stealth training” season at Aire Urban.  Last week we had the official Grand Opening party and had a great turn out including the folks from Optimal Nutrition, Engine Room Fitness, Break Away Training, Muscle Specialists and all our good friends.  Festivities started on site and finished next door at the Se hotel.  This weekend hosted the first group triathlon training workout in downtown San Diego with Break Away Training Triathlon Club hosting a bike/run workout on the roof top with a run up to Balboa Park and back.  The Computrainer system is up and running and we are pretty sure it is downtown San Diego’s only Computrainer Cycling Center AND Power Tap Cycling system.  TRX group classes have been getting a lot of attention and Engine Room Fitness group rowing will be featured on Fox Five News coming up in about two weeks so keep your eyes posted!!  As the outdoor season winds down and the in door training season gears up we hope to see you at Aire Urban Performance soon for downtown San Diego’s only performance athletic center with Pilates, Yoga, indoor cycling, indoor rowing and personal training.

What’s up at Aire Urban Performance?

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

Hello Everyone and welcome to Aire Urban Performance www.airesd.com ! We are located in Dowtown San Diego in the Gas Lamp district across the street from the House of Blues. Aire is an 8,000 square foot facility geared towards people who are serious about their health and fitness and are looking for ways to take things to the next level. There is a lot to tell you about so let’s just get to it!

First of all we are NOT a gym, meaning that there is no membership fee. You are free to use the facility and services we offer as much or as little as your schedule permits. All you pay for is what you use when you use it.

The Aire Urban cycling center is run by Crank Cycling. The cycling center is home to San Diego’s only facility with Saris Power Tap bikes. This means you train cycling with POWER. This is the most efficient and productive way to improve your cycling. Crank Cycling also features Downtown San Diego’s only cycling center with an 8 person, multi rider computrainer system. This means if you are a triathlete you can ride preloaded race courses such as the California Half Ironman or if you are a roadie you can ride training course our coaches design to help you meet your goals. Aire Urban is also home to Downtown San Diego’s only indoor rowing program. The Indo-Row program is operated by the Olympic Athletes of Engine Room Fitness. This is the ultimate cross training experience! Think of a spin class except that you are on the highest quality indoor rowing machines and you are being coached by Olympians who do this stuff for real.

Aire Urban is all about functional strength training. We want you to be able to perform in the real world. That is why we also have Downtown San Diego’s only TRX Suspension Training group exercise facility. You use your own body weight to create the resistance and you work muscles you didn’t even know you had. TRX Suspension training is used by professional athletes and many of the top strength coaches around to get their athletes into top condition that increase strength and flexibility in a way the promotes functional use.

…and we haven’t even gotten to Pilates yet. The Pilates center at Aire Urban Performance features a Stott Pilates certified instructor on Stott Pilates reformers and cadillacs. The Pilates center at Aire Urban offers private, semi private and group classes for beginners to advanced Pilates practitioners. If you have been doing pilates in San Diego but are looking for a new challenge you have to come check out what Aire has to offer.

Aire Urban Performance is the title sponsor of Team Breakaway Training Triathlon so look for us at all the Koz races and pre race Expos in San Diego. At Aire we love our triathletes and want to make sure they get the best training and best facility to achieve their goals.

Check back with us soon here on line. You can also find Aire Urban Performance on facebook and twitter. Better yet if you happen to be in Downtown San Diego and are looking for a new place to spin, row, run, or just plain get stronger, give us a ring and stop by for a tour.
